Nitrile rubber (NBR)

What is Nitirl rubber?

Nitrile rubber is the simplified term for nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR). NBR has good resistance to oils and greases and good elasticity and rebound resilience. The most common application is in seals / O-rings and hoses, but NBR can also be used in vibration control.

A high acrylonitrile content (ACN content) is a prerequisite for good oil resistance. The ACN content is usually 18 to 50 %, whereby a content of 38 % or more is referred to as high or very high (45 % or more).

Low-temperature nitrile rubber (NBR-LT) is temperature-resistant down to -60 °C.

The higher the ACN content, the higher the gas tightness, but the lower the elasticity.
