What is calendering?

During calendering, the rubber usually runs over two to four rollers, the temperature of which can be controlled. The arrangement and temperature of the rollers can be used to determine different shapes and properties of the material. As with extrusion the molded parts can be processed for any length of time. Films or sheets are most frequently produced using calenders.
