Density
What is density?
The density of a body is the ratio of its mass to its volume. The density does not depend on the elastomer type, but on the elastomer compound. It is expressed by the Greek letter Rho (ρ) and is often described by the unit g/cm³ for plastics.
where m = mass, V = volume.
The density of elastomers is often determined using the buoyancy method or by weighing and calculating the sample dimensions.
Testing according to the buoyancy method is defined in the DIN EN ISO 1183-1 or ISO 2781 standard.
