What is hydrogenated nitrile rubber?

Hydrogenated nitrile rubber (HNBR) is an NBR rubber that is modified by hydrogenation (addition of hydrogen). As a result, HNBR is more heat resistant and has better wear behavior. HNBR is the standard material for timing belts in automobiles, and in industry it is most frequently used in the form of seals.
